Prof. Joash Amupitan, Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has called on the leadership of the Commission’s Staff Multi-Purpose Co-Operative Society to uphold transparency, accountability, and integrity in managing members’ funds.
Speaking at the society’s Annual General Meeting and Election, Amupitan stressed that:
- Corruption is a poison to any institution, especially those built on collective trust.
- Cooperative funds belong to members and must be managed prudently, with open books and traceable transactions.
- There must be fair and equal access to loans and benefits for all members.
- Investments should focus on members’ welfare and building a resilient future.
He reminded the leadership that the cooperative’s core purpose is to support members, particularly amid challenging economic conditions, and urged strict adherence to rules, fairness, and good governance.
