Investor Endorses Wike’s Reforms, Urges Diaspora Nigerians to Replicate ‘Master Communities’

Diamond Ilori, Founder of Wardiere Oakmount Developments, has praised the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, for his reforms in land administration and urban development, describing them as necessary corrections to prevent chaotic growth in Abuja.

Speaking in Abuja, Ilori urged developers to:

  • Comply with the Land Use Act, pay ground rent, and regularize title documents.
  • Embrace structured, sustainable “master community” models, integrating housing, schools, hospitals, parks, shopping malls, and public transport.
  • Follow government regulations to avoid land disputes and demolitions.

He highlighted his company’s ongoing projects, The Valley and Al Barari, as examples of self-contained communities prioritizing green spaces, environmental sustainability, and livable infrastructure.

Ilori also called on diaspora Nigerians to replicate these standards at home, advocating for organized communities rather than isolated estates to promote urban order and long-term value.

To further professionalize the real estate sector, he proposed establishing a Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) to certify developers and agents, enforce standards, and protect investors.

Key takeaway: Ilori emphasizes that disciplined, integrated urban planning—aligned with Wike’s reforms—can make Abuja and other Nigerian cities more sustainable, organized, and world-class.
