Israel Kills Two Palestinians in Gaza City Amid Rising Ceasefire Violations

Israeli forces have killed at least two Palestinians in Gaza City as violations of the ceasefire continue to escalate, leaving humanitarian aid blocked and the densely populated enclave struggling with worsening living conditions.

According to the Palestinian news agency Wafa, the latest fatalities occurred in the Shujayea neighborhood of eastern Gaza City, bringing the total reported Palestinian deaths over the past 24 hours to at least 12. Among them, eight bodies were recovered from rubble caused by ongoing Israeli attacks.

Widespread Ceasefire Violations

The Gaza City incident highlights a broader pattern of violations since a US-brokered ceasefire came into effect on 10 October 2025. Gaza’s Government Media Office condemned Israel for “serious and systematic violations,” reporting 875 breaches since the truce began.

These violations include:

  • Israeli air and artillery attacks on civilian areas
  • Demolition of Palestinian homes and infrastructure
  • At least 265 incidents of Israeli troops firing on Palestinian civilians

Since the ceasefire, at least 411 Palestinians have been killed and 1,112 others wounded in Israeli attacks on Gaza.

Humanitarian Crisis Intensifies

Hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians continue to face dire humanitarian conditions, lacking adequate food, medicine, and shelter. Winter storms have worsened conditions, flooding makeshift camps and leaving thousands without basic necessities.

Since October, only 17,819 trucks have entered Gaza, far below the 43,800 agreed under the ceasefire. This equates to an average of 244 trucks per day versus the 600 trucks daily promised by Israel, according to Gaza’s Government Media Office.

UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric emphasized the urgent need to lift restrictions on aid delivery, including essential shelter materials such as tents, bedding, and blankets. He reported that humanitarian partners are working to provide dignified shelter to approximately 1.3 million people, with 3,500 families living in flood-prone areas due to recent storms.

Healthcare Crisis

The lack of medical supplies continues to exacerbate the crisis. The Palestinian Ministry of Health reported severe shortages of drugs and essential equipment, making it difficult to care for patients. Nearly all hospitals and healthcare facilities were damaged during Israel’s two-year bombardment, including 34 hospitals and 125 healthcare centers.

Ongoing Conflict and Casualties

The Gaza Strip has seen devastating losses since the start of Israel’s offensive in October 2023. According to reports, at least 70,937 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed, with 171,192 others injured. The continued violations of the ceasefire and restrictions on humanitarian aid have fueled concerns about the long-term survival and welfare of the civilian population in Gaza.

The UN and other international organizations continue to appeal for unrestricted access to humanitarian aid and for both parties to honor the ceasefire to prevent further civilian casualties.
