JD(U) spokesperson Sanjay Jha on Sunday mocked the Mahagathbandhan following the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) landslide victory in the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, asserting that voters rejected the Opposition’s promise of “destruction.” He also praised Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for his governance.
“I was saying from day one that the Opposition would face the same situation it faced in 2010. CM Nitish Kumar has made history. There was destruction on one side and development on the other. This is the good governance of CM Nitish Kumar,” Jha said.
Commenting on RJD leader Rohini Acharya’s decision to quit politics and disown her family, Jha said, “Rohini is the dearest daughter of Lalu Yadav. The daughter who gave her kidney to her father is saying that there is a ‘Mahabharata’ going on in that family.”
Meanwhile, Union Minister and LJP(RV) chief Chirag Paswan said that the state government would be formed before November 22, with discussions ongoing among alliance partners. “A sense of clarity will come on the blueprint of the government. We have to form the government before 22nd November. It will be done soon,” he stated.
The ruling NDA secured 202 seats, a three-fourths majority in the 243-member House, marking the second time it has crossed the 200-seat mark, the first being in 2010 with 206 seats. The Mahagathbandhan won just 35 seats, with RJD securing 25, Congress 6, CPI(ML)(L) 2, IIP 1, and CPI(M) 1. AIMIM won five seats, and BSP won one.
The Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 were held in two phases—November 6 and November 11—with votes counted on November 14. Bihar recorded a historic 67.13% voter turnout, the highest since 1951, with women voters outpacing men (71.6% vs 62.8%).
