KINSMEN of former President Goodluck Jonathan from Ogbia Kingdom in Bayelsa and Rivers states have called on President Bola Tinubu to contest for re-election in 2027, pledging the kingdom’s full support.
During an official visit to the State House in Abuja, led by Obanobhan III, King Dumaro Charles Dwaba, the Ogbia delegation praised Tinubu’s inclusive leadership and the development interventions of his administration, particularly through the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). They highlighted achievements such as solar light installations, road construction, health facility upgrades, youth empowerment programs, and ecological projects that have transformed communities in the kingdom and the wider Niger Delta.
The delegation also commended key appointments of Ogbia indigenes to national positions, including Dr. Samuel Ogbuku (NDDC), Justice Moore Abraham Aseima Adumein, Sir Tonye Okio, and Barrister Fernandez Marcus-Obiene, noting these appointments reinforced trust in Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Ogbia leaders further urged the President to establish an Institute of Energy and Petroleum Studies in Ogbia, support coastal protection, and develop critical infrastructure. They emphasized the kingdom’s historical contributions to Nigeria, including being the site of the country’s first commercial oil discovery in Oloibiri and its role in national unity.
The delegation concluded by assuring President Tinubu of their loyalty, inviting him to visit Ogbia Kingdom, and praying for his continued wisdom and strength as the nation’s leader.
