A fuel-laden tanker has exploded along the deteriorated Eku–Abraka Road in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State after it fell near the Eku Market on Thursday.

Although full details are still emerging, eyewitnesses reported that the fire erupted when some residents attempted to scoop fuel from the overturned tanker.

No casualties have been confirmed at the time of filing this report, but the blaze reportedly destroyed several houses and a shop close to the scene.

Emergency responders are expected to arrive as efforts continue to contain the fire and assess the extent of the damage.
