Juventus have officially dismissed manager Igor Tudor after just seven months in charge, ending a turbulent spell that saw the Italian giants slip down the Serie A table and struggle for form both domestically and in Europe.
Tudor’s Short-Lived Tenure Ends in Frustration
The 43-year-old Croatian coach was appointed in March 2025 as a replacement for Thiago Motta, inheriting a squad in transition and under mounting pressure to return Juventus to the top of Italian football.
However, Tudor’s side endured a prolonged dip in form, going eight consecutive matches without a win, culminating in Sunday’s 2–0 defeat against Lazio. The result left Juventus eighth in the Serie A standings and marked their third straight loss in all competitions.
In a brief statement, the club confirmed Tudor’s departure, saying:
“The club thanks Igor Tudor and his entire staff for their professionalism and dedication over the past few months and wishes them all the best for their future careers.”
Poor Results and Mounting Pressure
Juventus’ poor run has left them six points adrift of league leaders Napoli, with the team failing to record a single victory in their last five Serie A fixtures. The lack of consistency in attack and a leaky defence frustrated supporters, while the team’s struggles in Europe compounded the situation.
In the Champions League, Juventus currently sit 25th in the overall group stage standings, having drawn two and lost one of their opening three matches. The slow start has put qualification for the knockout rounds at serious risk — a scenario unthinkable for a club of Juve’s stature and history.
Brambilla Appointed Interim Manager
In the aftermath of Tudor’s dismissal, Juventus announced that Massimiliano Brambilla will step in as caretaker manager for the club’s upcoming Serie A clash against Udinese on Wednesday at 17:30 GMT.
Brambilla, who previously coached the Juventus Next Gen (the club’s under-23 side), is seen as a steady hand to guide the team through this period of uncertainty while the board assesses long-term managerial options.
The decision comes amid growing speculation that Juventus may look to appoint a high-profile replacement, with several experienced European coaches — including Antonio Conte, Zinedine Zidane, and Simone Inzaghi — linked to the post in recent Italian media reports.
A Difficult Period for the Old Lady
The dismissal of Tudor marks yet another chapter in what has been a challenging few years for La Vecchia Signora (“The Old Lady”). Following the financial turbulence and off-field investigations that rocked the club in 2023–24, Juventus have been desperate to rebuild stability and reclaim their dominance in Serie A.
Despite a talented squad featuring stars such as Dusan Vlahovic, Federico Chiesa, and Manuel Locatelli, the team has struggled to find cohesion and consistency under Tudor. His tactical approach — a blend of aggressive pressing and defensive solidity — failed to yield the results expected by the Juventus hierarchy.
What’s Next for Juventus?
With the club languishing in mid-table and European qualification far from guaranteed, the next few weeks will be crucial. The fixture against Udinese is seen as an opportunity to reset momentum before a busy November schedule featuring key matches against AC Milan, Napoli, and Roma.
Fans and pundits alike will now look to see whether the Juventus board opts for another short-term solution or invests in a manager capable of long-term rebuilding — something the club has lacked since the departure of Massimiliano Allegri in 2023.
For Tudor, whose tenure lasted just 24 matches in all competitions, the dismissal brings an abrupt end to what began with optimism but ended in frustration.
