Former Abia State governors, Senators Orji Uzor Kalu and Theodore Ahamefula Orji, alongside other political stakeholders, have officially endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term.
The endorsement came during a meeting of political office holders from 1999–2027, known as Team 1999–2007, held at the Azikiwe residence of former Governor Orji in Umuahia, the state capital.
At the meeting, the team also vowed to take legal action against Governor Alex Otti for allegedly managing the state from his private residence in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area instead of the Government House in Umuahia.
In a nine-point communiqué, signed by Senator Kalu (Chairman), Senator Orji (1st Vice Chairman), and Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu (2nd Vice Chairman) and read by former APGA National Chairman Chief Victor Ike Oye, members were urged to intensify efforts toward Tinubu’s re-election.
The team praised President Tinubu for appointing ex-Governor Ikpeazu as Ambassador-designate and encouraged members to put past differences aside to work for the growth of the group.
Speaking at the event, Senator Kalu described the group as a social-cultural organisation dedicated to improving the lives of Abians:
“People have called us names and accused us of doing nothing in the past 24 years, but if nothing was done, would there still be Abians? We are one family, and we must work for the future.”
Other speakers, including Chief Don Ubani, Eme Abali MBA, and Mrs. Felicia Dimgba, praised Kalu and Orji for their leadership, while former Speaker Rt. Hon Chinedum Orji thanked the leaders for guiding the team and encouraged members to close ranks and secure a resounding victory for President Tinubu in 2027.
