The Kano State House of Assembly has approved a ₦724.2 billion Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) for the 2026–2028 fiscal period, following a formal request from the state’s Commissioner for Planning and Budget.
The letter, read during Tuesday’s plenary session by Speaker Alhaji Jibril Ismail Falgore, outlined the key economic and fiscal parameters guiding the preparation of the 2026 budget, including revenue projections, debt servicing plans, and capital expenditure priorities.
According to the Speaker, the MTEF projects a total expenditure of ₦724.2 billion, comprising ₦321 billion for recurrent services and ₦321 billion for capital expenditure.
Falgore urged lawmakers to thoroughly examine the document to ensure alignment with the state’s development goals before forwarding it to the executive for assent.
After deliberations, the Assembly formally adopted the MTEF, pending the completion of final legislative procedures for its full approval.
