Kano Governor Yusuf, Ganduje Meet Face-to-Face for First Time Since 2023 Election

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf and his predecessor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, met face-to-face on Tuesday for the first time since the 2023 elections.

The encounter took place at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano State, marking roughly two years since the highly contested election. Reports indicate that the meeting was coincidental, with both leaders exchanging pleasantries in a cordial atmosphere.

Ganduje, Chairman of the Board of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), was in Kano to inspect airport facilities, while Governor Yusuf of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) was en route to Abuja.

It is recalled that Ganduje did not personally hand over power to Governor Yusuf after the election. Instead, he delegated the then Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, to conduct the handover ceremony.

Governor Yusuf defeated Ganduje’s anointed candidate, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the 2023 election.
