US Delegation Touches Down in Berlin
Berlin, Germany – December 14, 2025: Jared Kushner, former White House senior advisor and son-in-law of U.S. President Donald Trump, and U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff arrived in Berlin on Sunday to lead the American delegation for high-level talks with Ukraine and European leaders.
The delegation was seen entering the centrally located Hotel Adlon, signaling the start of adviser-level negotiations intended to advance a ceasefire and peace framework for Ukraine.
Talks to Include European Leaders
Discussions in Berlin are expected to involve senior Ukrainian officials and representatives from key European powers. German government spokesman Stefan Kornelius confirmed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will meet with Chancellor Friedrich Merz on Monday to consult on the ongoing talks.
The meetings are taking place behind closed doors, and initial details about specific proposals or agreements remain confidential.
Background: Diplomatic Flurry
Earlier this month, U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff met Russian President Vladimir Putin, who indicated readiness for continued dialogue while asserting that Russia maintains strategic initiative. Putin stressed that, without an agreement, Russia would continue pursuing its military objectives in Ukraine.
Zelensky has emphasized that Ukraine will not make territorial concessions but remains open to legally binding Western security guarantees if a peace agreement is reached.
The Berlin meetings aim to reconcile these positions, while incorporating European input, to achieve a sustainable ceasefire and prevent further escalation.
