The Kwara State Police Command has ordered an immediate investigation into allegations that some of its officers extorted money from the public along the Osi-Eruku road in the Ekiti Local Government Area.
The command’s action was prompted by a video circulating on social media that purportedly shows the officers engaged in the illegal act.
In a statement released on Tuesday in Ilorin, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, confirmed that the command is aware of the footage.
“The state Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, has therefore ordered an immediate and thorough investigation into the incident,” the statement read.
It further assured that any officers identified and found guilty will “face appropriate disciplinary action,” reaffirming the command’s commitment to professional conduct and accountability.
