Lagos Government Announces Temporary Closure of Public Parks for Maintenance

The Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK) has announced a temporary closure of all public parks under its management across the state to allow for routine maintenance and upgrades.

In a statement issued on January 9 and shared on its official platforms on Saturday, LASPARK disclosed that the parks will be shut to the public from January 12 to January 31, 2026, following heightened usage during the recent festive period.

The agency listed affected locations to include Ndubisi Kanu Park, Alausa JJT Park, Dr. Finnih Abayomi Park in Oregun, as well as all other LASPARK-managed recreational spaces statewide.

According to LASPARK, the closure is necessary to carry out landscaping works, facility repairs, and general improvements, aimed at maintaining safety, cleanliness, and overall visitor experience.

The agency explained that the exercise aligns with its mandate to sustain healthy, accessible, and environmentally friendly green spaces that promote relaxation and wellness for residents.

LASPARK assured Lagosians that all affected parks will reopen immediately after the maintenance period, urging the public to bear with the temporary inconvenience.
