The Lagos State Government has arrested three individuals for allegedly dumping refuse at an unauthorized site in Ayobo.

The suspects—Awosunle Akinola (65), Adepeju Seun (47), and Solamipe Akanwo—are all Lagos residents.

Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed the arrests on his official X account, stating:

“The LAWMA Waste Infractions Surveillance and Investigation Team apprehended three individuals during an overnight operation for illegally disposing of waste at an unauthorised location in Ayobo. They have been transferred to the LAWMA legal team at the Oshodi Taskforce office for further legal proceedings. All identified black spots in the area have also been effectively minimised.”

The commissioner added that the operation, concluded in the early hours of Tuesday, is part of the state’s ongoing effort to eliminate illegal waste dumping and promote cleaner, safer communities across Lagos.
