Lagos accounts for 80–90% of Nigeria’s nearly 2,000 tech startups recorded between 2024 and 2025, making it the largest startup hub in Africa.
Between 2019 and 2024, Lagos-based startups attracted $6 billion in funding, representing over 70% of Nigeria’s total tech investment. The Art of Technology (AOT) Conference, now in its 7th edition, serves as a platform for innovators, entrepreneurs, investors, and policymakers to co-create solutions and shape the city’s digital future.
AOT 7.0, themed “Future Technologies and a Sustainable Lagos,” focuses on emerging technologies such as AI, blockchain, IoT, smart mobility, and clean energy, aligning with Lagos’ climate and sustainability goals. The state government aims to double IT and innovation’s contribution to GDP by 2030, supporting over 75 startups with grants and funding through the Lagos State Science, Research, and Innovation Council.
Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat highlighted the Lagos Innovation Bill, which will institutionalize innovation, strengthen IP protection, expand startup funding, and deepen collaboration across government, industry, and academia.
AOT Lagos 7.0 also featured Sara Sabry, the first African woman astronaut, in a Fireside Chat, alongside exhibitions, breakout sessions, and a Gala Night celebrating innovation and technology excellence.
