Lagos Police Confirm Pastor Chris Okafor’s Voluntary Surrender

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that Pastor Chris Okafor, Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, has voluntarily surrendered to the police over allegations of misconduct and related offences.

According to the police, Pastor Okafor reported himself to authorities after failing to honour an earlier invitation from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti. He had been invited on Sunday to appear on Monday but did not show up as scheduled.

Speaking during an interview with TVC on Wednesday, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, explained that the cleric initially contacted the police through his lawyer, promising to appear on Monday.

“When he was invited, he reached out through his lawyer and said he would appear on Monday. We waited for him on that day, but he didn’t show up. I then directed that he should be arrested. Subsequently, he appeared yesterday,” CP Jimoh said.

The Commissioner further disclosed that the matter has now been transferred to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, Sylvester Alabi, for further investigation.

CP Jimoh added that investigations into the case had already been ongoing at the Zone 2 headquarters for about three weeks before Pastor Okafor’s surrender.

Addressing public concerns, the police chief noted that social media played a crucial role in bringing the allegations to the attention of law enforcement.

“Social media has become a veritable platform for lodging complaints. We no longer wait for formal reports before acting in the public interest, especially when such conduct could lead to a breakdown of law and order,” he stated.

The allegations against Pastor Okafor first surfaced on social media in mid-December 2025, sparking widespread public reaction and calls for a thorough investigation.
