Lagos State Approves New Governing Council for LASU

The Lagos State Government has approved a new 11-member Governing Council for Lagos State University (LASU), aiming to strengthen governance and academic excellence.

  • Approval & Announcement:
    • Approval issued in a circular signed by Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro.
    • Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu gave assent to the appointments.
    • Circular directed accounting officers to publicize the development across institutions and departments.
  • Council Leadership:
    • Chairman: Mr. Babatunde Ogala, SAN, a legal practitioner, capital market consultant, and business recovery expert.
    • Mr. Ogala’s background:
      • Law degree from University of Jos (1985)
      • Called to Nigerian Bar (1986)
      • Former General Legal Adviser at Guardian Press Limited
      • Associate Counsel at Femi Okunnu Chambers
      • Member of Lagos State House of Assembly (2007–2011)
  • Council Members:
    • Oluseyi Badmus
    • Bode Makanjuola
    • Mojisola Tolagbe Taiwo
    • Shaffudeen Amuwo
    • Rafiu Adisa Ebiti
    • Kofo Durosimi-Etti
    • Farouk Gumel

The new council is expected to guide the strategic direction and governance of LASU, in line with the Sanwo-Olu administration’s push to enhance the quality of state-owned tertiary institutions.
