Lalu Yadav Family Feud Explodes: Rohini Acharya Alleges Abuse, Targets Tejashwi and Aides After RJD’s Election Disaster

The crushing defeat of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)-led Mahagathbandhan in the 2025 Bihar assembly elections has triggered an explosive public feud within the family of RJD patriarch Lalu Prasad Yadav. Rohini Acharya, the RJD supremo’s daughter, who notably donated a kidney to her father in 2022, publicly announced her decision to quit politics and sever ties with her family, followed by sensational allegations of abuse.

Speaking to reporters at the Patna airport, Acharya, a doctor married to a Singapore-based businessman, directed her accusations squarely at her brother, Tejashwi Yadav, and two of his closest aides, holding them responsible for her sudden and dramatic estrangement.

Allegations of Abuse and Expulsion

Rohini Acharya did not mince words when discussing the breakdown of her relationship with her family and party leadership, linking it directly to the party’s electoral failure.

She alleged that she was “thrown out of the house, disgraced, abused, and even hit with a chappal (slipper)” after she began questioning the party’s disastrous performance.

She explicitly named the individuals she holds accountable for her separation from the family:

“I don’t have a family. You should go and ask Tejashwi Yadav, Sanjay Yadav, and Rameez. They are the ones who threw me out of the family.”

Acharya stated that the confrontation arose when she demanded accountability for the party’s massive defeat, saying, “The whole nation is asking why the party failed like this. When you name Sanjay Yadav and Rameez, you are thrown out of the house, disgraced, abused, and even hit with a chappal.”

Quitting Politics and Disowning the Family

The public outcry followed an earlier cryptic post on her X handle, where Acharya first announced her decision, taking the blame for the party’s misfortunes and pointing a finger at Tejashwi’s confidantes.

“I am quitting politics and I am disowning my family…This is what Sanjay Yadav and Rameez had asked me to do…and I am taking all the blame,” she wrote.

This shocking announcement comes as the RJD struggles to cope with the election results, which saw the Mahagathbandhan alliance manage a tally significantly lower than the ruling NDA coalition, which secured a landslide victory with 202 out of 243 seats. The RJD itself secured only 25 seats.

The Role of Tejashwi Yadav’s Aides

Rohini Acharya’s allegations have brought two key figures in her brother’s political circle into the spotlight:

  • Sanjay Yadav: He is a Rajya Sabha MP from the RJD and is widely regarded as one of Tejashwi Yadav’s most trusted and influential aides and a senior political advisor. His expanding influence in the party is reportedly a long-standing source of tension within the family.
  • Rameez Alam: He is described as an old friend of Tejashwi Yadav and is said to hail from a political family in neighboring Uttar Pradesh. Reports suggest he looks after Tejashwi’s campaign and daily routine, operating under the guidance of Sanjay Yadav.

Acharya’s dramatic declaration widens an already public and growing rift within the RJD’s first family, coming months after her elder brother, Tej Pratap Yadav, was expelled from both the party and the family over a separate personal controversy. The unfolding family feud, intensified by the electoral disaster, suggests deep internal divisions over the party’s direction and the influence wielded by Tejashwi Yadav’s inner circle.
