The Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCCN), headquartered in Adamawa State, has announced the election of its spiritual leader, Archbishop Musa Filibus, as the new President of Tarayyar Ekklesiyoyin Kristi a Nigeria (TEKAN).
The election took place on January 10, 2026, during the 70th General Assembly of TEKAN, a body comprising church groups across northern Nigeria, according to the LCCN Communications Department in Numan, Adamawa State.
Rev. Seth Atiko, LCCN Communications Officer, called on members, partners, and the faithful to pray for Archbishop Filibus, seeking divine wisdom and strength as he assumes his new role. “We invite you to stand in solidarity with his vision for a united and vibrant Church in Nigeria,” he added.
Archbishop Filibus, born in 1960, previously served as President of the Lutheran World Federation (LWF), becoming the 13th president of the global body and only the second African to hold the position. He has led the LCCN since 2017 and continues to serve in that role.
His election to TEKAN is expected to strengthen collaboration among Christian denominations in northern Nigeria and promote unity and spiritual growth across the region.
