Massive Fire Razes Computer Village, Destroys Millions in Goods

A devastating fire swept through a one-storey commercial building on Somoye Osundairo Street in Lagos’ Computer Village early Tuesday morning, destroying computers and accessories worth millions of naira. The blaze, which began around 1:55 a.m., rapidly engulfed the building, used mainly by tech dealers, raising concerns over recurring fire incidents in the nation’s largest technology hub.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed that responders arrived around 2:15 a.m., encountering thick smoke and active flames. No fatalities were reported, though one firefighter sustained minor injuries treated on-site.

LASEMA warned that the top floor was completely destroyed, and the building’s structure partially compromised, prompting calls for urgent structural assessments and stricter fire safety measures across Computer Village. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and rescue and damping-down operations have concluded.
