A fire on Wednesday morning razed a factory in Nnewichi, Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State, destroying property valued at millions of naira.

The blaze, which reportedly started around 5:30 a.m., consumed mainly tissue papers and baby clothing, including diapers (pampers).

A resident, Obinna Okoye, said the fire caught locals by surprise as most were still asleep. He noted that firefighters were on the scene battling the flames.

“The fire service men are still trying to quench the fire. You know how flammable pampers and tissue papers can be,” he added.

Commander of the Nnewi Fire Service Zone, F. Jerry, confirmed that the fire had been brought under control. He stated that no casualties were reported and that the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
