The Anambra chapter of the Nigeria Union of Mine Workers (NUMW) has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the successful conduct of the recent governorship election in the state.
In a statement on Saturday, NUMW State Chairman Comrade Onyah Kelvin praised INEC for the timely deployment of electoral materials and personnel, which contributed to a smooth, peaceful, and violence-free poll. The union called on the electoral body to maintain this track record of credibility in future elections to ensure continued democratic stability.
NUMW congratulated Governor Chukwuma Soludo and Deputy Governor Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim on their re-election, describing the victory as a reflection of public confidence in the APGA-led administration.
The union highlighted Soludo’s achievements over the past three and a half years, including:
- Widespread road networks across all 21 LGAs and three senatorial districts
- Construction of bridges, the new government house, and new markets
- Initiatives like Solution Fun City and improved security through the Agunechemba and Udo Ga A hi operatives
NUMW noted that these developments have enhanced safety, reduced crime, and contributed to rapid growth in Anambra State, particularly in its capital, making it one of the fastest-growing cities in the South East.
Comrade Onyah emphasized that INEC should continue building on this credible electoral process to ensure peaceful leadership transitions across Nigeria.
