Matthew Omotola Jaiyeola, popularly known as Mr. Gbera, has shared that his greatest joy comes from creating music that inspires and heals people.
Starting his musical journey at a young age in his father’s church, Gbera has grown into one of Nigeria’s most influential indigenous gospel artists, with a fan base that extends globally.
“There are countless testimonies, and they keep coming,” he said. “I cannot forget a woman in Abeokuta who lost two of her children and was on the brink of suicide. She found hope through my songs. Another man in Ikeja, Lagos, grieving the loss of his twins, was guided back to life through my music.”
Gbera attributes his inspiration to God, saying, “I draw energy from Him, and I am always happy and active in making positive impacts in people’s lives.”
He also emphasized the global reach of Nigerian music. “Our fans span the world, and we travel to ensure that our music continues to inspire and heal as many people as possible,” he added.
Currently, Mr. Gbera is working on new tracks and collaborations. Among his most popular performances are “Iriri,” “Olorun Lo N’ Mumi bo,” and “Alanu Lo Njagun Aye Mi.” He continues to celebrate Nigeria’s vibrant music scene and expresses optimism about its growing international influence.
