
Lagos recently hosted the inaugural launch of Music Tech Nigeria, a pioneering initiative aimed at connecting music, innovation, and technology to drive sustainable growth in Nigeria’s creative economy. The event took place at The Colossus Hotel, Ikeja, bringing together creators, policymakers, industry leaders, and tech innovators.
Ashley Immanuel, CEO of Semicolon Africa, delivered the keynote address on the theme: “Why Music Tech Matters for Nigeria’s Creative Future.” She highlighted technology as a key enabler for learning, production, distribution, and audience engagement, while also emphasizing intellectual property protection and fair compensation as critical areas for innovation.
Yvan Boudillet, co-founder of Music Tech Europe, described the launch as a milestone for the global music-tech community, recognizing its potential to democratize access to funding and opportunities for African creators and music entrepreneurs.
Music Tech Nigeria signals a new era for collaboration between the creative and tech sectors, positioning Nigeria as a hub for innovation-driven growth in Africa’s music industry.
