Muslims Will One Day Reach the White House – Sheikh Gumi Celebrates Mamdani’s Mayoral Victory

Prominent Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has expressed optimism that Muslims will one day occupy the White House as President of the United States.

Gumi made the remark while reacting to the election of Uganda-born American politician, Zohran Mamdani, as the new Mayor of New York City — the first Muslim ever elected to that position.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, the cleric wrote:

“Mamdani has made it! ICU in Washington should be ready for heart attacks! Muslims will make it to the White House.”

DAILY POST reports that Mamdani, a 34-year-old state assemblyman from Queens and self-described democratic socialist, secured a surprise victory over former Governor Andrew Cuomo in a closely contested mayoral race.

Mamdani’s triumph — following his earlier win in the Democratic primary in June — has been described as a political upset, defeating a seasoned politician widely expected to clinch the nomination.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump, who closely followed the race, had criticized Mamdani, calling him a “100% Communist Lunatic” and “My little communist.”

Ahead of Election Day, Trump endorsed Cuomo and warned that he could cut federal funding to New York City if Mamdani won.

Mamdani’s victory is now being celebrated by Muslim communities worldwide as a breakthrough for representation in American politics.
