The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has announced plans to automate the monitoring of its night-shift personnel, aiming to enhance oversight and prevent lapses that could leave passengers stranded during late hours.
Michael Achimugu, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the NCAA, stated that his department is in the final stages of implementing the automated system.
Speaking on X (formerly Twitter), Achimugu emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards for night-shift staff.
He said, “We must build a system to monitor our on-duty personnel. At the NCAA, we are in the final stages of automating this process in my department. I don’t want a situation where passengers are stranded at night while our officers are answering calls from home, claiming to be at the terminal. With automation, I can see their location in real time.”
Achimugu added that efficiency during night hours is crucial: “We must embrace a work culture that prioritizes the highest standards for night-shift staff. These are hours when time cannot be wasted. Customers or patients are most vulnerable at night and should receive timely and effective attention.”
