The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) is set to host the first-ever Digital Awareness and Sensitization Fora, aimed at bridging gaps between policy, infrastructure, and innovation for a more inclusive digital future.
The maiden edition, themed “Leaving No One Behind: Digital Assets, Equity, and Empowerment”, will take place on November 13, 2025, bringing together industry experts, policymakers, community stakeholders, and development partners to explore practical solutions for closing Nigeria’s digital divide.
Promoting Inclusive Digital Growth
The fora are designed to provide a platform for discussions on:
- Designing inclusive digital policies
- Deploying accessible digital infrastructure
- Developing adaptive digital literacy programs
- Advocating for affordability and accessibility in digital services
Africa has the world’s youngest population, with 60% under the age of 25, and Nigeria plays a major role in this demographic. NCC aims to leverage this untapped potential while ensuring digital inclusion for all citizens.
“This initiative highlights the importance of inclusive participation in Nigeria’s digital economy and underscores our commitment to empowering underserved communities through technology,” said an NCC spokesperson.
Collaboration Across Sectors
The forum is a collaborative effort involving key stakeholders including:
- Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF)
- National Orientation Agency (NOA)
- National Council of Women Societies (NCWS)
- Association of Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ATCON)
- FintechNGR, Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), and more
The event will feature panel discussions, exhibitions by innovators and fintech organizations, and student showcases, providing a platform to highlight Nigeria’s growing digital ecosystem.
Nationwide Access via Livestream
To ensure widespread participation, the event will be livestreamed at scf.ncc.gov.ng, making it accessible to Nigerians nationwide.
This initiative aligns with NCC’s broader goal of ensuring digital equity, safety, and empowerment for over 140 million internet users in Nigeria, while fostering innovation, national development, and inclusive growth.
