The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has dismissed a viral video circulating online that claimed a two-kilometre “hidden airport” was discovered in the Argungu forest of Kebbi State for cocaine smuggling, describing it as AI-generated and false.
Speaking to journalists in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday, the NDLEA State Commander, Rabiu A. Sokoto, said a thorough investigation found no evidence of any such airport, forest, or individuals mentioned in the video.
“We directed our officers to verify the alleged site and activities in Argungu, but nothing of that nature was found,” Sokoto stated. “The video is misleading and creating unnecessary public alarm.”
Also reacting, Kebbi State Commissioner for Information, Ahmed Yakubu, condemned the video as malicious and politically motivated, urging residents to ignore it.
He said the clip was a deliberate attempt to discredit the state government and undermine public confidence.
