Newly Elected AGN President Abubakar Yakubu Arrested Following Tragic Car Accident in Lagos

Abubakar Yakubu, the newly elected President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), has reportedly been arrested after a tragic car accident in Surulere, Lagos.

Yakubu, who won the AGN presidency in a closely contested election—defeating veteran actress Rita Daniels 116 votes to 113—made history as the first Northern Nigerian to lead the Guild since its formal registration in 1998.

Just days after his electoral victory, Yakubu was allegedly involved in a fatal accident that reportedly claimed the life of a pedestrian. Following the incident, he was taken into custody at the Barracks Police Station, Surulere, as authorities launch an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

No official statement has yet been issued regarding the cause of the accident or any potential charges against him.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the Nollywood community, with many supporters emphasizing that Yakubu should be presumed innocent until proven guilty.

As the investigation continues, industry stakeholders are closely monitoring developments. What began as a moment of celebration for the AGN has turned into a period of uncertainty, leaving fans and colleagues alike awaiting clarity on the unfolding situation.
