NFF Defends Super Eagles’ Hotel Choice in Morocco Following Viral Video

The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has defended the choice of hotel for the Super Eagles in Morocco, addressing concerns raised about the team’s accommodation.

Football journalist Adepoju Tobi Samuel, quoting the Super Eagles’ media officer, clarified: “The Super Eagles are camped at Rive Hotel. What trended earlier was the view of an old building visible from a window. Rive was chosen because of its proximity to the team’s training facility and the stadium here in Rabat.”

The statement comes hours after midfielder Alex Iwobi shared images highlighting the poor state and surroundings of the team’s lodging, sparking public concerns over the players’ welfare and preparation ahead of their crucial playoff clash against Gabon on Thursday.

Nigeria secured a place in the playoff round after finishing second behind South Africa in Group C. The Super Eagles will face Gabon in the semi-final, with the winner advancing to play either DR Congo or Cameroon in the final. The ultimate victor will earn a spot in the intercontinental playoffs in March 2026, with a ticket to the FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico at stake.
