Nigerian Afrobeats Stars Shine in 2026 MOBO Awards Nominations

Nigeria’s music scene continues to dominate globally, with Afrobeats stars Ayra Starr, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Davido, Rema, Adekunle Gold, and Shallipopi among the nominees for the 2026 Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards. The nominations reaffirm Nigeria’s growing influence on the international music stage.

Founded in 1996, the MOBO Awards celebrate excellence across genres including Afrobeats, hip-hop, R&B, jazz, gospel, electronic, and alternative music.

At just 23, Ayra Starr stands out with two major nominations: Best African Music Act and Best International Act, where she will compete alongside global stars like Cardi B, Gunna, Kehlani, and Vybz Kartel. Since her debut, Ayra Starr has pushed musical boundaries through chart-topping releases and international collaborations, solidifying her status as one of Africa’s most influential young voices.

The 2026 ceremony is scheduled for March 26, 2026, at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester, drawing music executives, artists, and fans from around the world. Organizers note that the year is extra special as MOBO celebrates 30 years of championing talent and shaping culture, spotlighting both emerging artists and established stars.
