Troops from Forward Operating Base (FOB) Wukari, under the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have apprehended a high-profile bandit leader in Ukum Local Government Area, Benue State.
Lt. Umar Muhammad, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the Brigade, described the arrest on December 22, 2025, as a major operational success. The suspect, identified as Fidelis Gayama, is wanted for multiple kidnappings and armed robberies along the Benue–Taraba corridor. Preliminary investigations indicate that he is closely linked to Aka Dogo, a notorious armed group leader.
Brig.-Gen. Kingsley Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, praised the troops for their professionalism and operational precision. He called the arrest a significant blow to criminal networks in the region and reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
Gayama is currently in military custody and will be handed over to relevant authorities for further investigation and prosecution under Nigerian law. The Commander also urged the public to continue providing credible intelligence to support security operations.
