The Boeing 737-700 Business Jet previously listed for sale by the Nigerian government has been removed from the website of JetHQ, the US-based firm managing the sale.
JetHQ confirmed the delisting, advising that inquiries regarding the aircraft’s status should be directed to the Nigerian government. Efforts to obtain clarification from the National Security Adviser’s office have so far been unsuccessful.
Background
The jet was first put up for sale in July 2025 as part of President Bola Tinubu’s cost-cutting and fleet rationalisation initiative. By October, it remained unsold. JetHQ described any details about potential buyers or offers as proprietary information.
Aircraft Details
- Underwent partial refurbishment and major C1–C2 inspections at AMAC’s Basel facility in July 2024, including upgrades to first-class seating and cabin carpeting.
- Average market value for a pre-owned Boeing 737 BBJ is around $56 million, while Nigeria purchased the jet in 2005 for $43 million.
Current Situation
With the listing removed and no official government statement, the current status of the presidential jet remains unknown.
