Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) detained nine individuals, including a woman, during coordinated anti-terror raids carried out on Sunday across multiple districts of the Kashmir Valley. The operation, based on intelligence inputs about the online glorification of terrorism and digital radicalisation of youth, targeted 10 locations in Srinagar, Kulgam, Baramulla, Shopian, and Pulwama.
A CIK spokesperson described the action as a “sweeping crackdown on online terror networks,” emphasising that the raids were intended to send a strong message against extremism and cyber-enabled propaganda. The operation was conducted with support from local police forces.
According to officials, those detained are suspected of misusing social media platforms to incite violence, promote anti-national narratives, and spread communal hatred. Investigators seized a range of digital evidence, including SIM cards, mobile phones, tablets, and other electronic devices, all of which will undergo forensic analysis.
Authorities believe the recovered material will provide crucial leads for further investigation and potential follow-up actions. CIK officials underscored that the operation reflects the security establishment’s commitment to safeguarding public order and countering digital threats that fuel terrorism.
The spokesperson said the crackdown marks the beginning of a broader, intensified campaign against online radicalisation and Pakistan-backed terror networks attempting to influence youth in the Valley. More raids and detentions are expected as part of ongoing efforts to preserve internal security and maintain peace across Jammu and Kashmir.
