The Nigeria National League (NNL) has slapped Gombe United with a fine of N2.5 million for their fans’ misconduct during a match against Jigawa Golden Stars. The fine follows an incident where Gombe United supporters encroached the pitch, harassed, and intimidated match officials, leading to an abandonment of the game in the final minute.
The NNL cited several breaches of league regulations by Gombe United, including the club’s failure to provide adequate security and control over its supporters during the match. This occurred during the Matchday Seven fixture at Pantami Stadium on Sunday.
As a result of the incident, the league has mandated that the remaining minute of the game be replayed behind closed doors at the New Jos Stadium in Jos. Additionally, the fines were broken down as follows:
- N2 million for the misconduct of the fans.
- N500,000 to cover the transport and accommodation expenses of Jigawa Golden Stars.
Gombe United has been given until January 9, 2026, to pay the fine. Failure to comply will result in the club forfeiting three points to Jigawa Golden Stars.
