Security measures were heightened across Gautam Buddh Nagar on Monday night after the deadly car blast near Delhi’s Red Fort, which killed at least eight people and injured twenty-four others. Noida Police launched extensive checking drives at metro stations, busy public areas and major road junctions to prevent any spillover threats and to reassure public safety.
Police teams erected barricades at key entry and exit points, stopping and inspecting suspicious vehicles. Officials said the focus was on high-footfall locations, transport hubs and densely populated commercial sectors.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Noida) Yamuna Prasad conducted foot patrols in Sector 62 and other crowded zones under the Sector 58 police station’s jurisdiction. He instructed local station heads to intensify vehicle checks, maintain strong visibility of police personnel, and ensure that all barricaded points remain staffed.
DCP (Central Noida) Shakti Mohan Awasthy, along with ACP-1 Central Noida Varnika Singh, supervised parallel checks around metro stations and busy marketplaces in the Sector 63 police station area. Awasthy directed the SHO to maintain heightened vigilance over suspicious vehicles, use CCTV surveillance effectively and ensure uninterrupted patrolling through PCR and PRV units.
The stepped-up measures followed the high-intensity explosion near the Red Fort Metro Station, where several vehicles were burnt and dozens of people were caught in the blast during evening peak hours. The injured were transported to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital for treatment. Officials in Noida said the enhanced security protocols would continue until further directives are issued.
