Schools in Noida will remain closed for students from Nursery to Class 8 on January 16 (Friday) and January 17 (Saturday) due to cold weather and dense fog, the district education department announced.
Earlier, winter holidays had been extended until January 15 in view of harsh weather conditions, and the latest order further extends relief for students. The directive was issued by Basic Education Officer Rahul Panwar following guidance from the district magistrate and a review of prevailing weather, according to PTI.
“All schools from Nursery to Class 8 affiliated with CBSE, ICSE, IB, UP Board, and other boards operating in Gautam Buddh Nagar district shall remain closed on January 16 and 17,” the order stated.
Noida Weather Forecast
- January 16: Temperatures expected between 5°C and 19°C. Dense fog may reduce visibility, especially in the morning.
- January 17: Very dense fog forecast, with temperatures ranging from 5°C to 18°C.
- January 18–21: Slight warming expected with minimum temperatures around 6°C and maximums between 20°C and 21°C, though early morning fog or mist may persist before conditions improve later in the day.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has not issued any weather warnings for Noida until January 21.
Students and parents are advised to stay updated on further announcements regarding school schedules as the cold wave continues.
