
Renowned businessman and philanthropist, Chief Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, has been honored with the prestigious chieftaincy title Okpataozueora I of Oba in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area, Anambra State.
The title was conferred by His Royal Majesty, Igwe Augustine Chinedu Emelobe, GON (Eze Okpoko II of Oba), also known as Igwe Onyilingugba, Eze Orazuluchie, during the maiden Ofala Festival of Oba on Friday, January 9.
In a ceremony marked by vibrant cultural displays, pomp, and pageantry, the Igwe described Obi Cubana as an illustrious son of Oba whose life and achievements have brought honour to the kingdom. He explained that the title Okpataozueora, symbolizing broadmindedness, community upliftment, courage, resilience, and excellence, recognizes Obi Cubana’s contributions to human capital development, community empowerment, and the promotion of Igbo cultural heritage.
The monarch also urged residents of Oba, both locally and in the diaspora, to accord the new titleholder the respect befitting his status, praising his enduring commitment to youth empowerment, social impact, and economic development within and beyond Oba land.
In his acceptance speech, Obi Cubana expressed gratitude to the Igwe, the Oba Traditional Council, and the community, describing the honor as a call to higher service. He reaffirmed his commitment to attracting investment, development opportunities, and goodwill to Oba and the wider Anambra State.
This latest conferment adds to Obi Cubana’s growing list of chieftaincy titles, including his recent recognition as Ife Igbo-Ji-Ka by the Igwe and traditional council of Enugwu–Ukwu na Umunri. The titles highlight his status as a leading cultural ambassador, philanthropist, and influential entrepreneur, whose impact spans business, culture, and community development.
