A five-man gang abducted Alhaji Baki Atoyebi from his Onipanu residence in Ogun State on Monday evening, stealing his POS machine, N900,000 cash, three mobile phones, a power bank, and keys to his Toyota Highlander and Corolla.
The kidnappers switched off Atoyebi’s generator to lure him outside and, after abducting him, demanded a N30 million ransom from his family.
Ogun State Police, led by Commissioner Lanre Ogunlowo, deployed a joint tactical team—including the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Vigilante Group, So-Safe Corps, and local hunters—which rescued Atoyebi unharmed. The team traced the kidnappers to a creek hideout, neutralizing two and injuring others who fled.
Police commended the operation’s success and reassured the public of continued commitment to safety.
