Okpebholo Backs Tinubu’s Economic Reforms as City Boy Movement Pledges 10 Million Votes

Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his bold economic reforms and development programmes, describing them as transformative for national progress.

Speaking at the City Boy Movement empowerment programme in Benin City, where over 200 youths received support, Okpebholo highlighted federal backing as a key driver for major state infrastructure projects, including flyovers and road construction.

“These projects are made possible through the support of President Tinubu. I urge all Edo people to continue supporting the President, whose reforms, though tough, are essential for Nigeria’s progress,” he said.

Edo Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa pledged that Edo State would deliver a decisive victory for Tinubu in the 2027 elections, asserting that opposition in the state would “soon become history.”

The City Boy Movement, Africa’s largest socio-political youth platform, announced plans to mobilize 10 million votes nationwide for Tinubu’s re-election. Its Director-General, Francis Oluwatosin Shoga, praised Okpebholo’s leadership and highlighted the movement’s goals: supporting Tinubu’s policies, promoting his re-election, and increasing youth participation in governance.

Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, emphasized the administration’s focus on youth empowerment, while Commissioner for Education and City Boy Movement State Director, Paddy Iyamu, highlighted achievements under Okpebholo, including:

  • Construction of 68 new schools
  • ₦1 billion in student bursaries
  • Sponsorship of five students to study in China

The event drew key dignitaries, including the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Philip Shaibu, APC leaders, and City Boy Movement supporters from across Edo State.
