Rapper Olamide has addressed the controversy that arose after he ranked Wizkid as the top Afrobeats artist after Fela Kuti during a press briefing in Toronto, Canada.
Olamide acknowledged that opinions differ in the music industry, emphasizing that it is large enough for all artists to thrive. He urged fans to support their favorite musicians without diminishing others’ work.
He wrote:
“Honestly, this whole lengthy 3-way conversation is pretty much whatever. You can’t diminish anyone’s greatness… Feel free to believe what you want or support whoever you choose – there’s plenty of room in the sky for everyone.”
Olamide also noted that top artists like Burna Boy, Davido, and Wizkid focus on their craft and are not offended by differing opinions, which he said is part of why they have achieved their success. He encouraged fans to respect diverse perspectives in music.
