Oyebanji Appoints Prof. Omojola as New BOUESTI Vice Chancellor

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has approved the appointment of Professor Andrew Babatunde Omojola as the new Vice Chancellor of the Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti (BOUESTI).

Omojola, a Professor of Animal Science with expertise in Animal Products, Processing, and Food Safety, previously served as the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Ibadan. His appointment was announced on Monday through a statement by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Olayinka Oyebode.

The new appointment takes immediate effect, as Prof. Omojola succeeds Prof. Olufemi Victor Adeoluwa, whose tenure ends on January 6, 2026.

Born on August 14, 1962, in Usi-Ekiti, Ido/Osi Local Government Area, Omojola attended Notre Dame College, Usi-Ekiti, before proceeding to the University of Ibadan, where he earned a Second Class Upper degree in Animal Science in 1988. He went on to obtain his MSc in 1991 and PhD in 1997 from the same institution.

Prof. Omojola began his academic career as Lecturer II at the University of Ibadan in 1997 and rose to the rank of Professor in 2011. His career includes service as a Visiting Professor at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana (2013–2019), and as an External Examiner at the University of Calabar and Osun State University.

He has also held several leadership positions at the University of Ibadan, including:

  • Head, Animal Products and Processing Unit (2000–2023)
  • Director, UI Teaching and Research Farm (2016–2018)
  • Member, University Senate (2011–date)
  • Dean, Faculty of Agriculture (2023–date)

Governor Oyebanji congratulated the new VC and urged him to leverage his academic and administrative experience to further elevate BOUESTI as a world-class institution. He also thanked the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Prof. Adeoluwa, for his dedicated service and wished him success in future endeavours.
