Osun State Accord party member, Mr. Oyeyemi Olalekan, popularly known as Emir, has dismissed claims linking him to the murder of Mr. Oyebamiji Kazeem, describing the allegations as politically motivated attempts to tarnish his reputation.
Oyeyemi, a former member of the defunct Motor Transport System (MTS), stated that he was not in Osogbo when Kazeem, a Personal Assistant to a chieftain of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), was killed on Sunday.
In a statement issued Monday, Oyeyemi emphasized that the reports connecting him to the incident were “deliberately malicious” and insisted he had no involvement.
“I do not have any ‘boys’ or gangs operating in Osogbo. My only associations here are with my football teammates and legitimate acquaintances,” he said. “As of Friday, January 16, 2026, I had left Osun State for personal family and business engagements and was not present during the alleged incident.”
Describing the viral reports as a targeted smear campaign, Oyeyemi accused unnamed individuals of spreading false information for political purposes.
“The publication is a deliberate attempt to tarnish my image and drag me into a crime I have no link to,” he stated. “I warn all parties behind this false narrative to immediately desist from spreading fake news, defamatory content, and unverified allegations. I will pursue all legal remedies against anyone found culpable.”
He further urged Osun APC media operatives and other political actors to exercise restraint and professionalism, stressing that freedom of speech does not cover defamation or character assassination.
Oyeyemi concluded by reserving the right to take legal action against any person or platform continuing to circulate the false allegation.
