Plateau Governor Mutfwang Presents N914.8 Billion 2026 Budget Estimate to State Assembly

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has presented a N914.86 billion budget estimate to the State House of Assembly for the 2026 fiscal year.

Titled “Budget of Consolidation and Sustainability 2.0”, the budget reflects the administration’s commitment to people-oriented projects and programmes across the state.


Budget Breakdown

  • Total Budget: N914,863,422,871.00
  • Recurrent Expenditure: N341,409,608,929.00 (37.32%)
  • Capital Expenditure: N573,453,813,942.00 (62.68%)

The 2026 budget represents an increase of N306.69 billion compared to the approved 2025 budget.

Governor Mutfwang emphasized that the administration’s focus remains on addressing citizens’ challenges and insecurity, in collaboration with security operatives.


Developmental Focus Areas

The Governor highlighted that the budget aligns with the Plateau State Strategic Development Framework (2023–2027), anchored on three pillars:

  1. Peace, Security, and Good Governance
  2. Sustainable Economic Rebirth
  3. Physical Infrastructure Development

The 2026 budget prioritizes:

  • Agriculture and Rural Development
  • Mining and Mineral Development
  • Industry, Trade, Investment, and Tourism
  • Health, Education, and Social Development
  • ICT, Infrastructure, Waste Management, Housing, and Power

Revenue Sources

The proposed revenue estimate of N914.86 billion will be generated from:

  • Internally Generated Revenue (IGR)
  • Government share of FAAC
  • AIDS grants
  • Capital Development Fund (CDF)

Implementation Plan

Governor Mutfwang stated:

“To ensure that citizens receive more dividends of democracy, the administration has earmarked N573.45 billion for capital projects, accounting for 62.93% of the total budget, while recurrent expenditure accounts for 37.07%.”

The budget underscores the government’s commitment to sustainable development, citizen-focused governance, and economic growth in Plateau State.
