Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has commissioned 1,450 operatives of the state-owned security outfit, Operation Rainbow, following eight weeks of intensive training.
Speaking at the passing-out parade at the New Jos Stadium, Mutfwang described the event as a historic milestone for both the graduands and the state’s collective efforts to enhance peace and security.
“This occasion marks a significant milestone, not only in the lives of these gallant men and women, carefully selected across all faiths and ethnic groups in the state, but also in our collective resolve to build a safer, more peaceful Plateau State,” the governor said.
He praised the operatives for answering “a noble call” to protect lives, preserve peace, and safeguard the future of their communities. Mutfwang emphasized that security is the foundation of sustainable development, adding, “Without peace, there can be no meaningful progress, investment, prosperity, or enduring unity. This is why peace and security are cardinal policy trusts of my administration.”
The governor assured that Operation Rainbow is an inclusive security outfit, designed to protect all citizens regardless of faith, ethnicity, or region. “It is not meant to witch-hunt anyone,” he said, “but to advance peace, unity, and safety for all.”
Mutfwang also pledged continued support for the operatives, promising logistics, ongoing training, and improved welfare packages to enable them to perform effectively. He urged them to be ambassadors of their communities and role models for the youth, noting, “The uniform you wear symbolizes hope, safety, trust, and responsibility.”
