Amit Shah had arrived in Raipur a day earlier to attend the conference and take part in preliminary sessions.

Conference Focus and Security Arrangements

This is the first time Chhattisgarh is hosting the annual DGP-IGP conference. Security arrangements in Nava Raipur and adjoining areas have been significantly strengthened, with over 2,000 police personnel deployed in a multi-layered security grid to ensure smooth conduct of the event.

The conference, organized under the overarching theme “Viksit Bharat: Security Dimensions,” aims to review progress on key policing challenges and strengthen internal security mechanisms in line with the vision of a “Surakshit Bharat” (Safe India) and “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India).

Officials said the agenda includes discussions on Left Wing Extremism, counter-terrorism strategies, disaster management, women’s safety, and the integration of forensic science and artificial intelligence (AI) in modern policing. The event will also see the conferment of the President’s Police Medals for distinguished service, recognising exemplary contributions by police personnel across the country.

Participants and Objectives

The conference will be attended by the Union Home Minister, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, Ministers of State for Home Affairs, DGPs of states and Union Territories, and heads of central police organizations. Senior officers from the state and UT home departments, along with select police officers in the ranks of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and Superintendent of Police (SP), have also been invited to participate.

Officials emphasised that the event provides an opportunity to exchange knowledge, identify innovative strategies for law enforcement, and strengthen collaboration between central and state policing agencies. The conference is expected to produce actionable recommendations to enhance operational efficiency, ensure the safety of citizens, and counter emerging security threats.

With Prime Minister Modi participating in the deliberations on November 29 and 30, the conference highlights the central government’s focus on security, law enforcement modernization, and the integration of technology and intelligence in policing practices.
