New Delhi: The Delhi Traffic Police on Friday issued an extensive traffic advisory in anticipation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters in central Delhi, following the NDA’s decisive victory in the Bihar Assembly elections. The advisory aims to manage expected VVIP movement and ensure smooth traffic flow across key stretches in the city.
According to authorities, restrictions and diversions will be in place from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Several major roads, both carriageways and service lanes, will witness limited movement or temporary closures during this period. Commuters have been advised to plan their travel accordingly and consider alternative routes to avoid delays.
Key Areas Affected
Traffic restrictions will impact the following stretches and adjacent areas:
- W Point and A Point
- ITO Chowk
- IP Marg
- BSZ Marg
- DDU Marg
- Tagore Road
- Vishnu Digambar Marg
- Mirdard Road and Mirdard Red Light
- Ranjeet Singh Marg and Ranjeet Singh Flyover
- Jangir Road
- Press Road
Parking will be allowed only at designated spots, and vehicles found parked along restricted stretches—including Bahadurshah Zafar Marg, IP Marg, DDU Marg, Tagore Road, Vishnu Digambar Marg, Mirdard Road, Mirdard Red Light, Ranjeet Singh Marg, Ranjeet Singh Flyover, Jangir Road, and Press Road—will be towed and subject to legal action.
Advisories for Commuters
Authorities have urged commuters to cooperate with traffic personnel and follow instructions for smoother movement. Additional diversions may be implemented depending on real-time traffic conditions during the Prime Minister’s visit. The Delhi Traffic Police has emphasized public patience, particularly for residents and daily commuters in central Delhi, as enhanced security measures are expected around the BJP headquarters.
With VVIP movements often resulting in significant traffic disruption in the city, the advisory serves as a preventive measure to minimise inconvenience while ensuring the safety and security of the Prime Minister and other dignitaries. Residents are encouraged to plan journeys in advance, use public transport where possible, and monitor live traffic updates.
