Nollywood actress Sarah Martins has challenged the traditional belief that couples must abstain from sex before marriage, describing sexual compatibility as a crucial factor in evaluating a potential life partner.
In a recent Instagram video, Martins addressed a popular pastoral analogy that compares men who seek premarital sex to bicycles, advising women to wait for a “Bentley” as a symbol of true commitment. She rejected the notion, insisting that assessing a partner’s sexual compatibility is an informed and responsible step, not a moral failing.
“I am deeply loyal in relationships,” Martins said. “When I am committed, I am fully in. I don’t play games, and I don’t cheat. So why would I enter a lifelong partnership without knowing if my partner can meet my needs—including sexually—before I say ‘I do’?”
She added that making a man wait does not guarantee his loyalty or prove a woman’s virtue. “A man can stay with you for ten years, but the very night he has his way, he could still leave,” Martins noted. “Starving a man or making him wait does not ensure a successful marriage or define your worth.”
Martins emphasized that premarital sexual knowledge helps partners understand each other deeply, ensuring a stronger foundation for marriage.
