President Tinubu Consoles Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie Over Son’s Passing

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed heartfelt condolences to acclaimed author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and her family following the death of her son, Nkanu Nnamdi.

In a personal statement issued on Thursday, the President also extended sympathies to Adichie’s husband, Dr. Ivara Esege, describing the loss as a profound tragedy.

“With a deep sense of grief, I condole with Ms. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, her husband, Dr. Ivara Esege, and the entire family on the passing of their son, Nkanu Nnamdi,” President Tinubu said.

Reflecting on personal experience, Tinubu acknowledged the unique pain of losing a child, adding:
“As a parent myself who has suffered the loss of a loved one, no grief is as devastating as losing a child.”

He expressed solidarity with the grieving family and prayed for their strength during this difficult time:
“I empathise with the family at this difficult time, and I mourn this sad loss with them.”

President Tinubu also paid tribute to Adichie’s global influence in literature, describing her as a cultural icon whose work has inspired millions worldwide. He prayed for comfort and resilience for her and her family in the wake of the tragedy.
