Pretty Mike, Club Supervisor Arraigned Over Alleged Drug Offences

Popular socialite and entertainer Mike Nwalie, known as Pretty Mike, was arraigned on Thursday at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, over alleged drug-related offences. The case was presided over by Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa.

Nwalie, owner of Proxy Lagos Night Club in Victoria Island, Lagos, appeared alongside the club’s supervisor, Joachim Hillary, 32, following charges filed by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on behalf of the Federal Government.

The three-count charge includes:

  1. Conspiracy to organize a drug party at the club, during which NDLEA allegedly recovered 200 grams of Cannabis Sativa and 177 cylinders of Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas) weighing 364.662 kg.
  2. Illegal possession of Cannabis Sativa, levelled specifically against Hillary.
  3. Allowing the club premises to be used for drug activities, directed solely at Nwalie.

Both defendants pleaded not guilty.

During proceedings, NDLEA counsel Buhari Abdullahi requested a trial date, while the defendants’ lawyer, Dr. B.S. Awosika (SAN), applied for bail, highlighting their clean criminal records. Abdullahi opposed, arguing insufficient grounds for bail.

Justice Lewis-Allagoa ruled that the burden lies on the prosecution to justify denial of bail and emphasized that defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Each was granted bail of ₦50 million, with two responsible sureties of like sum, required to submit an affidavit of means. The defendants were released to their lawyers pending fulfillment of bail conditions.

The trial was adjourned to January 14, 2026.
